"For me the guitar has and will always be an economical and versatile
instrument with which to play a wide variety of music and develop musical
skills in an enjoyable way."
The photograph to the right was taken many years ago when I was at college.
I first learned the guitar with Eli Kassner, a well-known teacher in
Toronto, Canada. As an undergraduate student, I also studied for a few months
with Daniel Garate in Mexico City. I graduated with a degree in philosophy
from the University of Toronto.
After graduating, I played guitar for a season with the theater orchestra
at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada and took part in student recitals
and Kiwanis competitions. I also performed guitar-voice concerts with a
soprano at University of Toronto and studied composition with Gordon Delamont,
a teacher and composer, also in Toronto.
In 1976, I obtained a graduate degree in Environmental Studies. I have
taught on-line courses for teachers through Ottawa University and Arizona
State University Department of Education.
Over the past five years, I have taught music for a year at Kingswood
Elementary in Dysart and taught for three semesters as the music teacher at
other Dysart Schools as a long-term substitute teacher. I also taught a guitar
class for two years at Paradise Education Center.
