Why We Learn Music

Musicians learn how to work with others and how to develop good work habits. Students develop an understanding of their own abilities and learning styles as well as the importance of perseverance in accomplishing goals. A solo or group performance in front of an audience is an excellent way of learning to focus one's attention and measure one's progress in music. One does not have to be a child prodigy or concert performer to enjoy playing music. Playing a musical instrument with friends or family members is wonderful way of building relationships and learning to work together. Music is not only an integral part of our culture but also a major industry. Successful performers not only generate income for themselves but also create jobs for those who produce and market music.

"Music is the universal language of the human spirit."
